Two Thousand Civilians in Yemen Have Been Killed by Cholera

Over 2000 people have died of cholera in Yemen over the past year, reports Russian consumer surveillance service (Rospotrebnadzor).
“According to the epidemiological bulletin of the World Health Organization, about 1,063,786 cholera cases have been treated in Yemen since April 27, 2017, until the end of February 2018. However, 2258 cases have been fatal, lab tests confirmed 1104 cases,” reads the reports.
59.3% of fatalities were associated with patients delivered to hospitals in critical condition. 28.8% of cases were children who are under the age of 5.
“Within the past three weeks, there have been cholera assumption cases in 174 districts all over Yemen. No cases have been fixed in 132 districts of the state over the past three weeks. The number of infection cases has been going down. The number of hard cases has lowered to 11%,” the message reports.
