The World Health Organization says the war on Yemen has triggered an epidemic outbreak of diphtheria disease, infecting over 1,300 people.

In a statement reported by WHO organization said that children at a young age and late teens account for almost 80 percent of cases and more than 70 people have died.

Diphtheria was found and spread widely in the month of October last year in 2017, Such a contagious and potentially fatal disease that primarily infects the throat and airways.

WHO said on Friday a vaccination campaign has recently completed for up to 2.7 million Yemeni children h in 11 provinces.

The near three-year stalemated war has damaged Yemen’s infrastructure, crippled the health system and pushed it to the brink of famine. Most of these outcomes are as resulted by the US support to KSA and the military campaign along with the blockade on Yemen manufactured by the Saudi-led coalition and its allies.
