The media in Saudi-held southern Yemen

A journalist and local historian, Abdullah Omar, was assassinated by unknown gunmen, believed to belong to al-Qaeda and Daesh, on Friday. Another civilian, Hassan Ashal, was wounded east of the Mawdiah district of Abyan province in southern Yemen, according to a local official .

The incident took place near the junction of Al-Ashal village east of Mawdiah district, official confirmed.

The southern provinces are witnessing a security chaos under the control of the Saudi-led coalition and armed groups. Killings, looting and assassinations of dozens of citizens have became widely rife in various provinces under its authority.
