Foreign Minister, Hisham Sharaf, held a meeting on Sunday with the United Nations Resident Coordinator in Sana’a, Lise Grande, discussing the humanitarian disaster in Yemen as a result of the Saudi-led coalition war and siege on the impoverished country.
After the conference, both sides agreed to reach a mechanism to pay the salaries of state employees and reopen Sana’a International Airport for civil and commercial flights.
The officials stressed the importance of allowing the entry of commercial ships loaded with various goods and foodstuffs through the coastal port of Hodaida to fill the needs of more than 80 percent of Yemenis.
During the meeting, Mr. Sharaf denounced the Saudi-led coalition’s attack on a Turkish merchant ship loaded with about 49,000 tons of wheat on Thursday, considering it an aggressive action aimed at boosting the suffering of Yemeni people.
