The Omani researcher and writer Zakaria al-Mahrami likened what is being carried out by the Arab-led coalition forces led by Saudi Arabia in Yemen to a “holocaust”.

“The United Nations warns of the death of 18.4 million Yemenis as a result of famine, which amounts to 3 Holocausts!!,” he said on Twitter along with the hashtag  #Stop_Yemeni_Holocaust.

The United Nations Humanitarian Coordinator in Yemen, Jimmy McGoldrick, noted that the suffering of the Yemeni population continues, as famine continues to threaten millions, and treatable diseases continue to spread among populations whose capabilities have been weakened throughout Yemen.

He stressed that the priority of humanitarian organizations is currently the resumption of rescue operations, which have receded because of insecurity.

“The lives of millions of people, including 8.4 million Yemenis are on the verge of starvation, who depend on our ability to continue our operations to provide health, shelter, safe water and food aid.”

It was not long after the end of 2017 until Yemen had recorded the emergence of a new disease, “diphtheria”, to add to the series of diseases, which reappeared after the disappearance of many years, notably cholera, malaria, dengue fever and tuberculosis.

The outbreak coincided with the outbreak of the “cholera” epidemic, which killed more than 2,500 people, and the number of people suspected of the disease rose to one million.

It is noteworthy that for the third year in a row, the population of Sana’a and the provinces under the control of Ansarullah, also known as Houthis, suffer from difficult living conditions, as the prices of food commodities, basic commodities, oil derivatives, domestic gas and transportation costs have doubled, salaries of state employees have been obstructed for more than a year, and the exchange rate of the Yemeni riyal against the dollar fell to more than 450 riyals originally from 215 riyals due to Saudi economical war on Yemen.
