President of the Supreme Political Council Meets the British House of Commons Member

President of the Supreme Political Council, Saleh Al-Sammad, met today at the presidential palace in Sana’a with the British House of Commons Member, Andrew Mitchell, and the UN Resident Coordinator to Yemen, Jamie Mcgoldrick, Oxfam Country Director, Mohammad Sajjad, as well as the General Director of UN Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs, George Khoury .

During the meeting, they reviewed the humanitarian situation in Yemen, developments in the political situation and the role of the United Nations in Yemen. Moreover, they discussed peace efforts and initiatives made by the friends of peace and stability in the world and all parties facing the danger of Al-Qaeda and Daesh.

The meeting reviewed the disastrous humanitarian situation in Yemen that lasted for two years as a result of the Saudi-US aggression.

Al-Sammad praised the role played by the United Nations in Yemen in the humanitarian aspect and its contribution that aims to meet the community needs; which would only be solved by lifting the imposed siege on Yemen and by ending the aggression on Yemen . He also expressed thanks and gratitude to the leadership of the UN mission in Yemen and its staff.

He confirmed on the necessity to deliver the voice of Yemen to the world, which has been suffering due to the Saudi aggression for two years. He also welcomed all the individual and collective initiatives in this aspect; revealing the huge crime being committed against Yemen and the Yemeni people.

Al-Sammad briefed them on the current developments, pointing out that Yemen and its borders protected the kingdom of Saudi Arabia from smuggling just a few months before the beginning of the US-backed Saudi aggression on Yemen. Even though the Yemeni defensive military is taking action by the Saudi borders, It does not target any civilian sites or civilians, he confirmed.

In addition, he affirmed that Yemen has promising opportunities for investment, and historically possesses a social friendly environment to all people. He continues by emphasizing that those people must take a second thought regarding their stances towards the the aggressive and failed coalition.

For the British part, the official expressed his pleasure of meeting the SPC, and mentioned his briefings stating that his visit would provide him with facts for the British Parliament. He Points out the importance of the United Nations’ role and its team efforts in Yemen that aim at extending its humanitarian circle, revealing that he is optimistic of reaching peace soon in Yemen.
