Foreign Minister Hisham Sharaf met on Sunday with Chargé d’affaires of Iranian embassy in Sana’a, Mohammed Farhat.
In the meeting, Sharaf handed Farhat a letter to Iranian Foreign Minister Mohammad Javad Zarif concerning the latest developments of the Yemeni situation and the US military movements in the Red Sea and Gulf of Aden, as well as the attacks carried out by Saudi-led coalition forces in the Yemeni coastal areas.
“Yemen is fully aware of the schemes aiming at dragging the region into further conflict and escalating the aggression,” Sharaf said.
While the National Salvation Government gives its hand for peace that would lead to ending the Saudi American aggression, it is ready to defend the country in accordance with the charter of the United Nations and relevant international conventions, he added.
The foreign minister reaffirmed Yemen’s commitment to the security and safety of international navigation in the Red Sea and Bab Al-Mandab.
