Targeting Mercenaries
Yamanyoon-20 Sep 2017
The missile command of Yemen’s army and Popular Committees announced that it has targeted the positions of the Saudi mercenaries in the northwestern governorate of al-Jawf with a domestically made ballistic missile dubbed “Qaher M2”, local sources said.
The missile attack carried out on Tuesday hit a gathering of the mercenaries of the Saudi regime in al-Hazm District in Jawf, the Arabic-language al-Masirah television network reported.
A military source said the Yemeni forces managed to inflict heavy casualties on the foreign-backed militants in the missile attack.
He also said the mercenaries had recently advanced to the Hazm District with new ammunition and military equipment.
The forces of the Arabian Peninsula country have already hit Saudi positions with various homegrown missiles, including “Qaher-1”, which has a range of 500 kilometers, and “Borkan-1”.
The solid propellant and Scud-type Borkan-1 missile reportedly has a range of more than 800 kilometers.
Since March 25, 2015, Saudi Arabia and some of its Arab allies have been carrying out airstrikes against the Houthi Ansarullah movement in an attempt to restore power to fugitive former President Abd Rabbuh Mansour Hadi, a close ally of Riyadh.
Yemen’s Legal Center of Rights and Development recently announced that the Saudi campaign has claimed the lives of over 12,000 Yemenis and left more than 20,000 others wounded.
