Hamas official closely aligned with Iran declared dead in Gaza

One of Hamas’ founding members and leading officials, ‘Imad Al-‘Alami, was declared dead on Tuesday after spending several days in a Gaza Strip hospital.
‘Alami was hospitalized three weeks ago after he accidentally shot himself while cleaning his gun.
Prior to his death, ‘Alami was considered one of Hamas’ most important political links to Iran, having spent a long period of time inside the country.
In addition to being Hamas’ leading official in Iran, ‘Alami was also played a key role for the Palestinian group in the international community.
‘Alami’s funeral procession took place this afternoon; he will be laid to rest in the Gaza Strip.
